The United States Bankruptcy Court Clerk's Office for the Northern District of Texas will be closed on Monday, February 15, 2010, in observance of Presidents' Day.
The closing of the Clerk's office will not affect the court's Electronic Filing System, which will remain available during this time. For emergency filings, please refer to our Emergency Filing.

5th Circuit Bench-Bar Bankruptcy Conference
The 2010 Bench-Bar Bankruptcy Conference for the 5th Circuit will be held April 1-2 at The Center for American and International Law in the Dallas Metroplex (Plano). The audience will include bankruptcy judges and lawyers from Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Among those who will be participating in or speaking at the conference are 5th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Patrick Higginbotham and Bankruptcy Judges Barbara Houser, Harlin Hale, Brenda Rhoades, Marvin Isgur, Ronald King, Douglas Dodd and David Houston.

Bankruptcy Filings Up 34 Percent over Last Fiscal Year
Bankruptcy cases filed in federal courts for fiscal year 2009 totaled 1,402,816, up 34.5 percent over the 1,042,993 filings reported for the 12-month period ending September 30, 2008, according to statistics released today by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.

June 2009 bankruptcy filings up 35 percent
In the 12-month period ending June 30, 2009, there were 1,306,315 bankruptcy cases filed in federal courts. That is a 35 percent increase compared to filings for the 12-month period ending June 30, 2008 when cases totaled 967,831.

Clerk's Notice 09-01
Effective immediately, the deadline of 120 days to file the Chapter 11 Post- Confirmation Application for Final Decree has been extended to 180 days from the entry of the Chapter 11 Post-Confirmation Order.
The revised local bankruptcy form, BTXN 056 (rev. 03/09), Chapter 11 Post- Confirmation Order, is available on our website and will apply to cases effective immediately.
