Emergency Filing Procedures When ECF is Not Available

In order to better serve our customers and promote accessibility to the Court when the Clerk’s Office is inaccessible or the Electronic Case Filing System (CM/ECF) is unavailable, the Clerk's Office of the U. S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas has instituted emergency filing procedures for all divisions as outlined below.

The U. S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas has defined an emergency filing as a new petition that cannot be delayed until the Clerk’s Office is accessible or CM/ECF is available, and any pleading deemed an emergency by the presiding judge.

To initiate an emergency filing, the individual filing the petition or pleading must dial (214) 753-2101 or 1(800) 442 - 6850 x2101.

At the tone, please leave your name, phone number, and nature of your emergency. The deputy clerk assigned to monitor the emergency phone line will determine if the petition meets the necessary requirements to be considered an emergency. For pleadings other than an emergency petition, the deputy clerk will contact the presiding judge, who will make the determination regarding the emergency status of the pleading. If the petition or pleading is deemed an emergency, the deputy clerk assigned to monitor the emergency phone line will make arrangements to receive the required documents for the case filing.  Any required fees are due within 24 hours of the time of filing, in any of the Court's divisional offices, and must be paid in the form of cash, money order or cashier's check.
