The intent of this policy is to provide general guidance on the holding of court during inclement weather or other building emergency in the Fort Worth division. In the event of inclement weather, the District Court Judges will make the determination of whether to close the courthouse. If the courthouse is opened, the determination to hold, delay, or cancel scheduled court hearings is at the discretion of each judicial officer. Attorneys and litigants should call the respective courtroom deputy for further instructions regarding rescheduling cancelled hearings. If an individual judge has an exigency requiring attention, the court will make necessary arrangements with the affected parties.
In instances where the Eldon B. Mahon Federal Courthouse is closed due to inclement weather or other building emergencies, an information hotline is available at 817-333-6017. A pre-recorded message will provide information on the opening and closing of the bankruptcy clerk's office. No other message will be provided at this telephone number.
